Generation Cooperation is located in a poor region in Malawi.
Generation Cooperation vzw (Gencoo) is located in Malawi (South-Eastern Africa), which borders on Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique. Malawi is mentioned as one of the poorest countries of the world.
Gencoo is active in Traditional Authority Chimutu (district), to the north- east of the capital city Lilongwe (check Google Maps).
GenCoo Malawi received a piece of land with a request to establish projects that will enhance development within the surrounding areas.
The map gives you an impression of “our land” and the projects which we already developed or want to develop in the near future.
Generation Cooperation VZW: a project of the community!
GenCoo village is the name of the campus where Generation Cooperation is located. As you can see on the map, it is located in the middle of “the community”.
The community consists of the eleven surrounding villages. We reach +- 300 families which are living within a radius of approximately 6 km from ‘GenCoo village’. Everyone of the community can participate. We don’t want to differentiate between age, gender or social background.
The chiefs of the villages are also very important. GenCoo has regular meetings with the chiefs. GenCoo Malawi realized that involving the chiefs in the work of GenCoo-Malawi is a strategy which will establish the organisation as a community program with a ‘bottom up’ approach, rather than the ‘top down’ approach of traditional community programs which normally end in failure.
